Where David Yancey Stands on the Issues Important to All Virginians

As your representative in the Virginia General Assembly, I have worked hard to stand up for the people of the 94th District. I will continue to support legislation that reflects the values and needs of our constituents and be an independent voice for our area.

I am always eager to hear from constituents. I believe that government only works when citizens are engaged in the process. If you have any questions or concerns, or would just like to share your opinion with him, please email us at Info@DavidYanceyForDelegate.com.

Jobs and Economic Growth

As a small business owner and entrepreneur, I understand the needs of business to grow and create jobs. Businesses need a stable regulatory environment that encourages investment and growth. Lowering taxes means more money for Virginia families and less of our dollars going to Richmond.

I am fully committed to working with the private sector to encourage economic growth in our community. This can be done by keeping taxes as low as possible, while opposing the big government spending proposals that are counterproductive to economic growth.

Taxes

I will partner with others in the General Assembly to keep taxes low in order to promote a pro-business environment for job creation. Government needs to operate within its means, just as most families do in one form or another, and this is why I support the balanced budget amendment to the Virginia Constitution.

Education

I support public and private schools as well as home schooling as methods for preparing our young people to compete in the global workforce. I believe the focus on education should be learning, not administrative bureaucracy. We need to have highly-trained, well-compensated teachers employed in schools where the money is spent in the classroom and can improve the students’ education experience.

With the future of our children at stake, lawmakers and educators must work together to find solutions that benefit our young people.

Transportation

The General Assembly has made great progress in moving transportation projects forward. Some of these projects include expanding I-64 to relieve congestion between the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel and Richmond, but also improving our local roads and streets. Fixing our transportation needs will improve our quality of life and allow for increased economic growth and job creation.

Energy

I believe American resources should be utilized to maximize domestic energy production. I support exploration for oil and natural gas off the coast of Virginia as potential new sources for energy, as well as continuing to develop solar, wind, and nuclear technologies.

Public Safety

In order to effectively protect our citizens, public safety professionals must have the resources they need to do their jobs. To accomplish this, we must ensure staffing needs are met and these people are highly trained to perform their duties.

Keeping our neighborhoods safe is important for a good quality of life, but it is also important to the overall economic stability of our community. I have and will continue to work with members of our police and fire departments to provide our citizens with the highest quality of service.

Life

I believe that life is precious and begins at conception. I will work to support the protection of innocent life.

Second Amendment

The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states, "A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

I support and defend the Second Amendment rights of Americans and I believe that law-abiding citizens have the right to keep and bear arms. I will vigorously defend those rights as your Delegate in the General Assembly.
